Rest and Renewal

Cheep Housing Newsletter January 2026
After a much needed break, I hope this newsletter finds you rested, renewed and ready to take on this New Year. I am certainly trying to take on new projects while I tidy up old ones and generally prepare for the busy-ness that is to come when winter leaves us and spring arrives. In that vein, you may have noticed more and more that gardeners are cautioned to wait a little longer before cleaning up your flower beds and garden. I generally agree with this since I see signs of the critters who rely on the standing stems, leaf litter and all of the nooks and crannies we have all over the farm. I’ve snapped a few photos of them in unusual places. Maybe we can all do a little more to help beneficial insects?
This spring look for new seed packets in the farm shop packaged for the 2026 growing season. I have been winnowing, cleaning seed and preparing seed packets for a select group of perennial flowers, annual flowers, squash and pumpkins. These will be available for purchase by March 2026
Our first lamb has arrived on the farm. He’s bouncy and healthy and ready for a playmate but the other ewes have yet to deliver. I am always a little anxious at how lambing season will. Wish me luck that all will go smoothly and we will have a barn full of healthy and adorable babies soon.
